Having parted company with manager Steve Cotterill, Burnley Football Club and supporters are Still Searching for our Special One.
While they’re waiting, many supporters, myself included, have been eagerly following the message board at the Clarets Mad site, for all the latest news, views and gossip. The message board, entitled “Eli’s” in tribute to the late poster, supporter and interestingly, close relative of the founder of the Euston Manifesto supporting, George Galloway taunting, blog Harry’s Place, has been housing a number of interesting threads. In amongst the expected “Steve Cotterill was crap and we should have got rid a year ago” and “This is the worse disaster ever to befall Burnley Football Club and we should reinstate Cotterill immediately” discussions is an interesting thread that was started by a student who is looking for tips on an essay he is writing on right and left-wing politics and how they affect public opinion. Considering that the Burnley team could be said currently to have difficulties with both wings, it’s a very good thread with some interesting posts and may change your views on the supporters of this under-publicised but ambitious and highly professional, small Northern town, football club.
I’d like to give my personal thanks to Steve Cotterill for everything he’s done in taking the club forward and here’s hoping we get the manager we need to take us on into the promised land of the Premiership.
